Phone Sales Representative Independent Contractor & Compensation Guide

Please read this guide before participating in the Doms Mattress Phone Sales Representative Program. It explains your independent contractor status, commission eligibility, payments, taxes, Rep Discount Code requirements, and program rules.

Quick Summary

You participate as an independent contractor, not an employee. You may earn a 17% commission on the qualifying product subtotal of eligible completed orders properly attributed to your Phone Sales Representative activity.

Eligible commissions are generally reviewed and paid monthly by ACH. Calls, customers, purchases, commissions, income, and continued participation are not guaranteed.

1. Independent Contractor Status

Phone Sales Representatives participate as independent contractors. You are not an employee, partner, agent, or joint venturer of Doms Mattress.

You are responsible for:

  • Providing your own phone, internet, equipment, and workspace.
  • Following the current Phone Sales Representative Training Page and approved procedures.
  • Using only accurate and approved Doms Mattress information.
  • Protecting confidential customer and company information.
  • Keeping your onboarding and payment information accurate.
  • Reporting and paying your own applicable taxes.

Participation does not include hourly pay, salary, employee benefits, paid time off, expense reimbursement, guaranteed calls, guaranteed sales, or guaranteed work.

2. How Commission Is Earned

Eligible Phone Sales Representatives may earn a 17% commission on the qualifying product subtotal of eligible completed orders properly attributed to their Phone Sales Representative activity.

Commission is calculated on the qualifying product subtotal and does not include sales tax or shipping charges.

Commission Example

Qualifying product subtotal: $600.00
Commission rate: 17%
Estimated commission: $102.00

No Completed Sale = No Commission

Answering a customer call, helping a customer, discussing a product, providing your Rep Discount Code, or directing a customer to the website does not by itself earn a commission.

The customer must actually complete an eligible purchase and the order must satisfy all applicable program requirements.

3. Rep Discount Code and Sale Attribution

Each approved Phone Sales Representative receives an individual Rep Discount Code.

Your code provides the approved customer discount and helps Doms Mattress identify qualifying orders associated with your Phone Sales Representative activity.

A commission generally requires all of the following:

  • You assisted the customer through approved Phone Sales Representative activity.
  • The customer completed an eligible purchase through DomsMattress.com.
  • Your assigned Rep Discount Code was entered and successfully applied to the qualifying order.
  • The order was successfully completed and paid.
  • The order meets all current Phone Sales Representative Program requirements.

Your Rep Discount Code is important. If the customer does not enter and successfully apply your assigned code to the qualifying order, Doms Mattress may not be able to attribute that purchase to you through the discount code.

Use of a Rep Discount Code does not by itself guarantee commission eligibility. Orders remain subject to verification and applicable program requirements.

4. Incoming Calls and Customer Opportunities

Incoming customer calls may be routed to multiple approved Phone Sales Representatives.

Opportunities are generally first come, first served. The representative who answers an incoming call assists that customer.

Calls may come from customers who found Doms Mattress through the website, Google Business Profile, online advertising, search results, or other Doms Mattress marketing.

Receiving or answering an incoming call does not guarantee that the customer will make a purchase or that a commission will be earned.

5. Ineligible or Adjusted Orders

Commission is not earned on orders that are:

  • Canceled, refunded, or fully returned.
  • Fraudulent or disputed.
  • Subject to a chargeback.
  • Duplicate or improperly attributed.
  • Connected to false or misleading representative activity.
  • Attributed through unauthorized use of another representative's Rep Discount Code.
  • Otherwise ineligible under current program terms.

If an order is partially refunded, returned, discounted, or otherwise adjusted, commission may be recalculated using the final eligible product subtotal.

A customer conversation, answered phone call, Rep Discount Code, or other tracking information does not automatically create commission eligibility. Doms Mattress may review the order and available program information before approving a commission.

6. Rep Discount Code Rules

Phone Sales Representatives must:

  • Use only the Rep Discount Code assigned to them.
  • Provide their code to customers they personally assist.
  • Remind customers to enter the code during checkout.
  • Use the code only for legitimate Phone Sales Representative activity.

Phone Sales Representatives may not:

  • Use another representative's Rep Discount Code.
  • Claim another representative's customer or sale.
  • Give another representative their code to create false attribution.
  • Manipulate, misuse, or falsely apply Rep Discount Codes.
  • Submit false information in an attempt to receive commission.

Improper use of Rep Discount Codes or false commission claims may result in loss of commission eligibility or removal from the Phone Sales Representative Program.

7. Payments and Onboarding Requirements

Eligible commissions are generally reviewed and paid once each month by ACH direct deposit.

Payments are generally issued on or about the 5th day of the following month for eligible commissions from the previous calendar month.

Before payment, representatives may be required to provide:

  • A completed Phone Sales Representative Onboarding Form.
  • A completed and signed IRS Form W-9.
  • Required acknowledgements and electronic signatures.
  • Valid ACH payment information.
  • Other information reasonably needed to verify or process payment.

Weekends, holidays, refunds, disputes, chargebacks, missing documents, inaccurate payment information, or order verification may delay processing.

8. Taxes and No Guaranteed Income

Independent contractors are responsible for their own applicable federal, state, and local taxes.

Doms Mattress does not withhold income taxes, Social Security, Medicare, unemployment taxes, or other employee deductions.

Applicable tax documents may be issued under current reporting requirements. Doms Mattress does not provide personal tax, legal, or financial advice.

There is no guarantee of incoming calls, customers, purchases, sales, commissions, income, future work, or continued participation.

Commission examples are provided for illustration only. Actual commissions vary depending on the qualifying products purchased and may be higher, lower, or zero.

9. Representative Conduct

Phone Sales Representatives must:

  • Represent Doms Mattress honestly and professionally.
  • Follow the current Phone Sales Representative Training Page.
  • Use DomsMattress.com and approved company information when answering customer questions.
  • Speak respectfully and professionally with customers.
  • Direct customers to DomsMattress.com to complete their own purchases.
  • Provide only accurate and approved information.
  • Protect confidential customer and company information.

Phone Sales Representatives may not:

  • Claim to be employees of Doms Mattress.
  • Guarantee income, sales, savings, delivery dates, or product availability.
  • Pressure, harass, or mislead customers.
  • Create or offer unauthorized promotions or discounts.
  • Collect customer credit card, debit card, banking, or other payment information.
  • Process customer payments outside DomsMattress.com.
  • Provide false or misleading product or company information.
  • Claim another representative's customer, order, or commission.

10. Online-Only Sales Model

Doms Mattress operates as an online mattress retailer. Customers complete purchases through DomsMattress.com.

Phone Sales Representatives should not promise:

  • Same-day local delivery.
  • Local pickup.
  • Showroom or try-before-you-buy service.
  • Cash purchasing options.
  • Any shipping, warranty, product, or service terms not currently offered by Doms Mattress.

Your role is to help the customer understand available products and make the online purchase process easier — not to operate as a local showroom or collect customer payments.

11. Confidentiality and Program Resources

Customer information, training materials, compensation information, Rep Discount Codes, call-routing information, and other internal program resources may be confidential.

These materials may not be sold, publicly posted, shared with unauthorized individuals, or used outside the Phone Sales Representative Program without permission.

12. Program Changes and Ending Participation

Doms Mattress may update, modify, restrict, suspend, or discontinue the Phone Sales Representative Program, commission structure, discounts, procedures, call-routing arrangements, or eligibility requirements.

Either the representative or Doms Mattress may end participation at any time. Doms Mattress may suspend or remove a representative for policy violations, false information, harassment, misrepresentation, confidentiality violations, improper commission attribution, misuse of Rep Discount Codes, or conduct that may harm the business.

Eligible commissions earned before participation ends will generally be processed under the terms in effect when the qualifying order was completed, subject to verification, refunds, disputes, chargebacks, and eligibility requirements.
